This year marks a new chapter for Ngā Manu Pūtohe with the establishment of our very first Pākeke rōpū.

This rōpū has been created for our rangatahi.

It exists to strengthen the pathway behind them, to support their growth, and to ensure they are surrounded by strong tauira who carry the kaupapa with integrity, discipline, and aroha.

As our rangatahi continue to step into bigger spaces and higher levels of performance, we recognise the importance of adults standing alongside them, learning together, and committing to the same kaupapa.

The Pākeke rōpū is about presence, responsibility, and building a collective that uplifts the next generation.

This rōpū will be entering Te Matatini Regionals on the Gold Coast in March 2026.

This is a significant step for our kaupapa and one that requires commitment, consistency, and unity.

The first wānanga will be held at Marsden State High School on Saturday 10 January 2026 at 11am.

All questions regarding the Pākeke rōpū will be addressed on the first day. Attendance is essential for those who are interested in being part of this journey.

We move forward together, for our rangatahi, for our kaupapa, and for the future of Ngā Manu Pūtohe.

Our tuakana ropu, Ngā Manu Huia worked hard fundraising this year and became the first Australian based rōpu to make the journey to Koroneihana.

The volunteers amongst our amazing hapori put together an incredible program for our rangatahi while they were in Aotearoa. They privileged to stay at Pohara Marae in the heart of Waikato, they visited Whakaata Maori, Whakarewarewa Living Māori Village, performed for Tamaoho Primary School, enjoyed Waingaro Hot Springs, and of course attended Koroneihana.

Broncos Vs Tigers Game

Our rōpu was invited to perform at Suncorp Stadium before the game.

At very little notice, our Tamaiki praticed hard and came together with an item to be proud of. Their courage and determination was incredible.

We were so proud of them all!
